On 16 September 2022 Mahsa Zhina Amini, a 22-year-old woman from Saqqez in Iran’s Kurdistan Province died at the hands of Iran's Guidance Patrol, or ‘morality police’. Three days earlier she had been arrested for wearing her hijab ‘improperly’ and fell into a coma after she was beaten inside the police van. Her murder triggered a feminist revolution that is asking for regime change and an end to the dictatorship in Iran.
